My Research

My research interests are primarily focused on statistical learning, data mining, computational statistics, and longitudinal data analysis with applications to public health. My current work is centered around a revived classical technique, stagewise regression, which slowly builds a model over many iterations. The resulting sequence , or 'path', of models can then be used to perform model selection in a manner similar to that of regularization techniques such as lasso. Stagewise regression is very flexible; this allows for easy integration with the use of generalized estimating equations (GEE) which in turn allows for easy application to longitudinal data.

I currently have an R package called sgee, which is publicly available on CRAN, that implements these stagewise techniques with GEE. If you would like to learn more please contact me! I'd love to discuss the topic with you further!
